About OLAWAOLAWA is a group of Sisters Country residents who came together because we care about where we're lucky enough to live.
We're "accidental activists" who discovered that to preserve our stunning natural surroundings we have to keep up with development proposals at the county and state levels. We're your neighbors...artists...lawyers...retirees... consultants... musicians...economists...farmers... landowners...hydrologists...policy wonks...and just folks. We aim to find ways that protect Sisters' quality of life, land and water while welcoming growth that makes sense. Part of finding a fair balance between the needs of people, natural areas, wildlife and fish is making sure everyone plays by the same rules. That's the LAW part of OLAWA; we fight proposals that give skirt statutes or give one-off deals. Mission We're a nonprofit with the main goal of helping more people understand what land use rule changes will mean for where we live. Here's our Mission Statement: Oregon Land and Water Alliance advocates for protection of land use laws and sustainable water policy. OLAWA actively monitors, analyzes, and raises awareness of issues affecting residents and visitors in Sisters Country. OLAWA is a 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Towns in the towns. Farming on the farms. Forests in the forests. |

Support Our Work |
As a nonprofit with a primary focus on educating people about land use, we rely on your donations. All our work is performed by volunteers. But we do have costs: insurance, legislative consultant, board training, events, communications. Please contribute so we can keep the lights on.
